Sam Raimi said recently that the new 'Spiderman flick', which is set to begin shooting in March, 2010 will "get back to basics." We're hoping these basics don't have anything to do with the shitpile basics of 'Spiderman 3', or the marginally rehashed basics of 'Spiderman 2', but are more closely like the basics of 'Spiderman', all of which he directed.

We've also heard unconfirmed reports that those basic include Willem Defoe, an upside-down kiss with Kirsten Dunst and her intriguing mouth, and lots of whispering. You know what, just watch the first one. Then watch 'Rocky IV' and remember how 4 is the most doomed in any series of sequels. Think about it, 'Superman IV', 'Rocky IV', 'Terminator 4' (or whatever the fuck it was called,) 'Ernest Goes to Jail', 'Batman & Robin', 'Star Wars: Episode 1'. All the WORST. Will Jar-Jar Binks make an appearance in what the net has gleefully decided to call simply '4'?

Just remember this, Sammy Raimi. 4 is supposed to suck. It's not supposed to get "back to basics" until someone else reboots the franchise and redoes everything. Your time here is done. You did a fine job. You made a bugajillion dollars and got a whole new generation of kiddes into the webbed crusader [fuck you, whatever.] Let it rest and let someone else recast and reboot.
